All our water sports offer thrill seekers the ride of a lifetime. Speed boat tours allow you to explore the world famous Broadwater and tour the maze of islands peppering the waters around South Stradbroke Island. A little closer to home the whole family can enjoy banana boat rides, parasailing, catamaran sailing, beach and pool swimming and, as a special treat, how about a ride in a seaplane for a bird's eye view of the island? Beach swimming safety on the islands 22km Pacific Ocean surf beach is assured with a Gold Coast City Council fully qualified lifeguard and flagged swimming area daily. You can even check-out the beach conditions from your accommodation via a TV channel showing live images of the beach. For a more relaxing water experience, start the day by kayaking around our lagoon or enjoy the glorious sunset on the Gold Coast Broadwater in one of our Catamarans. Many of the island's water activities are free of charge including catamaran sailing and kayaking (excluding organised tours or lessons). If you love nature and have a thirst for knowledge, our unique environmental walks, hosted by our environment guides, will introduce you to the native plants and animals that share our beautiful island. Start the day with a Mangrove kayak tour - the perfect way to enjoy the diversity of bird species sighted on the island to date. Our Rainforest walk will guide you through a unique part of South Stradbroke Island home to ancient Cabbage Tree Palm Rainforest and a diversity of fauna. For night owls, on Nocturnal walks through the bush you can help our guides search for bandicoots, echidnas and squirrel gliders. Or explore the wonders of the night sky on our Astronomy tour which starts with a slide show highlighting the wonders of the Milky Way galaxy, then venture outdoors to gaze at the evening sky through purpose-built Dobsonian reflecting telescopes.
Sports and Activities Centre We offer exceptional sporting facilities set in the most enticing of locations. At the Sports Centre you will find an array of world class gym and cardio equipment where, in the glass walled indoor circuit gym, you can work out with amazing views of the Australian woodland all around. Our broad variety of sports activities has something for everyone - from thrill seekers to adventure experience enthusiasts - many free of charge. For lovers of action, there's the challenge of half-court basketball, two flood lit tennis courts or beach volleyball. The High Ropes Course will challenge you and build teamwork. A fun activity for individuals or groups, choose ground level or tree-top challenges. For those preferring a quieter pace, our lawn-bowls facilities, 18 hole putt-putt course and shuffleboard courts can be enjoyed at your leisure.
Kids Club / Babysitting The Kites Kid's Club children's activities centre provides fully supervised sports and creative activities for children. With new friends to make and loads of interesting things to do, your child can play safe and have endless hours of fun. Catering for three to twelve year olds, Kites Kid's Club gives you the opportunity to have a few hours to yourself while the kids are happily entertained, with something different to do at every session. Kites Kid's Club is located at the rear of the inner lagoon, near the Rainforest Boardwalk entry. All kids should wear comfortable clothing and slip-on shoes.
